Email policy

Confidential communication disclosure

If you are a client, email will only be used to communicate with you if requested by you. If you have sent an email to us it is assumed that you consent to the use of email for communication. If you are concerned about confidentiality or who might have access to your email you will need to ask us not to send email to you. There are a number of reasons why email might not be read immediately on receipt. Instant responses to email cannot be expected. If something is urgent you must telephone us about it.

Our email contains confidential and privileged information only for the use of the intended recipient. Access to our email by anyone else is unauthorised. Any person, other than the intended recipient, receiving our email is requested to notify us immediately by telephone or email.

Solicitor-client legal professional privilege attaches to our email. That privilege will not be waived, lost or destroyed by reason of a mistaken email address or transmission.

If you are not the intended recipient of our email, any disclosure, copying, distribution or any action taken or omitted to be taken in reliance on it, is prohibited and may be unlawful.

Fraud warning: Please be aware that there is a significant risk posed by cyber fraud, specifically relating to email and bank account details. Our bank account details will never change during the course of a transaction and we will never change our bank details via email. Please check account details with us in person. We will not accept responsibility for the transfer money into an incorrect account.

The internet is not a secure environment. We cannot control the path of inbound and outbound emails, so the privacy of personal information sent by unencrypted email cannot be guaranteed.

The opinions or advice contained in our email are for our clients use only and are subject to the terms of the retainer with our client. Any views expressed in our email are those of the individual sender, except where the sender specifically states them to be the views of the firm.

The copyright in our attachments remains our property. Reproduction and amendment that is not expressly authorised by us is not permitted.

Whilst reasonable protection measures have been taken it cannot be promised that our email and any files attached to it are free of a virus or any other defect or error. Before using our email or any files attached to it you should scan for viruses. Do not click on any links or open any attachments unless you trust the sender and know the content is safe.

Our email does not constitute consent to the use of the sender's details for marketing purposes or by third parties.

Our email is sent at the request of our client. We will not be liable to the recipient or any other person for any loss or damage which may result from the receipt of or use of our email and any files attached to it outside the terms of the retainer with our client.

Liability is limited by a scheme approved under the Professional Standards Legislation.
